Pas Disrupting Perak Unity With Racial Politics Mujahid
Perak Pakatan Harapan chairperson Mujahid Yusof Rawa has claimed that PAS is disrupting unity in the state with racial politics and urged the people not to fall for such tactics, especially slander against the government.
ADSHe said PAS state lawmakers would rather play on racial and religious sentiments and support slander made by party members rather than focus on policies to develop Perak.
Pointing to Gunung Semanggul assemblyperson Razman Zakaria, who recently falsely accused a DAP lawmaker of being connected to a tycoon’s family, Mujahid said the PAS leader has also made the unity government in Perak an object of hate speech.
“Razman has labelled the unity government in Perak as being controlled by ‘bangsa DAP’, which has made decisions that are detrimental to Islam and Malays,” Mujahid said in a statement today.
He pointed out that Razman allegedly said this despite knowing that the state government was formed based on a political understanding between BN and Harapan to stabilise the situation after all party blocs failed to gain a majority when the government was being formed three years ago.
"The BN-Harapan understanding is based on the main conditions of safeguarding Islam and religious freedom for non-Muslims as well as upholding the sovereignty of the Malay rulers.
“So there is no question of Islam and the Malays being marginalised, rather it is a commitment of all components in the unity bloc," Mujahid added.
Perak PAS commisioner Razman ZakariaMujahid also accused Razman of misleading PAS supporters on the issue of open alcohol sales in Ipoh, saying that Razman falsely suggested that the state government condones it.
“In reality, the menteri besar has emphasised the need for further studies on the impact of open alcohol sales at local council premises, especially those under the Ipoh City Council jurisdiction.
“Where is the evidence that DAP made the decision on open alcohol sales?” he questioned.
‘Razman’s record of lying’
Two days ago, it was reported that Razman alleged that DAP leader Hannah Yeoh is the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder Yeoh Tiong Lay.
The Perak PAS chief later retracted the statement with an apology, but Yeoh went on to warn legal action against him, saying that slander cannot be permitted from a religious man.
ADSLast month, Razman issued an apology to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming for linking the latter to a procession in Teluk Intan in October where delegates from China waved the Chinese national flag.
The week before that, he apologised to Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad for allegedly insulting the latter.
‘Don’t support lies, fraud, slander’
Mujahid urged the people not to get sucked into such politics that would rock harmony in the state.
"It is a loss for PAS voters in Perak to support lies, fraud and slander to the point of undermining the stability that has been built for the welfare and well-being of the people of Perak," he added.
He further called on PAS supporters to reject the party.
"I suggest to PAS followers and voters not to fall for this vile slander because Razman is only using evil racial and religious sentiments for political gain by deceiving PAS voters and followers.
“His record of lying and then apologising is a testimony to that," he added. - Mkini
