In a statement, Razman said he saw a post on a Facebook account called “Harakatdaily HD” which quoted him as saying that he had checked PAS’s donations account and found “there are plenty of funds to pay any damages (to Hannah)”.
In his police report today, the Gunong Semanggol assemblyman said: “I deny the content of this post and have never made such a statement”.
He called for police to investigate the administrator of the Facebook account and take appropriate action.
“I have also filed a complaint on this matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC),” he said.
Razman said the complaint was made to urge the MCMC and the communications ministry to more effectively control fake news and “avoid selective enforcement”.
He also wanted to prevent the spread of false information by irresponsible fake social media accounts and avoid a culture of deception becoming a norm among Malaysians.
Yesterday, it was reported that Yeoh was set to serve a letter of demand on Razman who claimed that the Segambut MP was linked to the Yeoh family of the YTL conglomerate.
While Razman had earlier apologised for his claim that she was the “daughter of a rich man” and a “daughter of YTL”, Yeoh said the PAS leader had made other allegedly defamatory allegations against her in the same speech.
In his apology, Razman had also expressed disappointment over the media coverage of his speech.
He accused the press of deliberately focusing on the 10-second part which referenced Yeoh without reporting on the other parts or broader issues. - FMT
