Balloon Vendor Denies He Was Warned 3 Times Before Scuffle
Balloon vendor Za’immudin Azlan said he had been operating without a licence because he did not know the application procedures.
PETALING JAYA: The balloon vendor hospitalised after a scuffle with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers on Friday night has denied that they had warned him three times before the incident.
In a video shared by an officer for Arau MP Shahidan Kassim, the vendor, Za’immudin Azlan, 28, admitted that he had been operating without a licence, Sinar Harian reported.
Following the incident at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, DBKL had said in a statement the officers issued the vendor three warnings before he was wrestled to the ground.
“When a third warning was issued, the balloon vendor became aggressive, resulting in physical contact when he pushed the enforcement officer who was carrying out his duty,” read the statement.
DBKL said plainclothes enforcement officers then separated the vendor and the officers.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Za’immudin said: “This (three warnings) is not true. I was afraid of them myself. If I had met them earlier, they would have certainly seized my goods.”
He said he had been operating without a licence because he did not know the application procedures.
He also denied accusations that he was not a Malaysian, saying he was from Jerantut, Pahang.
“Now my spine is broken,” he claimed, asking Shahidan to help him get a licence as he “only knows how to trade”. - FMT
