Rayer Praises Suspended Wan Fayhsal Invites Him To Cross Over To Govt
PARLIAMENT | A brief moment of camaraderie unfolded in Parliament today when RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong) invited opposition MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (PN-Machang) to join the government - an offer the latter declined with a smile.
Interjecting in Wan Fayhsal’s debate on Budget 2026, Rayer (above) expressed his consternation over the former’s recent suspension from Bersatu, claiming that the decision is “disappointing and unfair”.
“I’m from DAP, (but) I listened (to Wan Fayhsal’s debate) and what saddened me is this: if he has debated with courtesy and presented proper arguments, why was he suspended?
“None from Bersatu are even here to listen (to his speech) - and I’m not joking when I say this - is there really something wrong here? A talented, young MP who presented well-reasoned points…why? What’s going on? It’s not fair,” the seemingly distraught DAP MP lamented.
He then extended an invitation for Wan Fayhsal to join the government bench, saying: “If there are any developments, you’re welcome to join this side - what happened to you is simply unjust.”

Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad KamalIn response to Rayer’s apparently heartfelt offer, Wan Fayhsal thanked the backbencher for the gesture, but maintained that his loyalty lies firmly with Perikatan Nasional.
“Honestly, I myself don’t know why I was suspended. You’ll have to ask Pagoh (Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin) if he is in the Dewan,” Wan Fayhsal quipped.
The Machang MP also affirmed his “unwavering commitment” to both his coalition and the people of Kelantan, adding with a grin: “But, thank you for the invitation.”
Suspension and termination
On Oct 13, Bersatu suspended Wan Fayhsal for one term while also sacking its supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan and four party division chiefs.
According to a Bersatu disciplinary board statement, it found the leaders guilty of violating the party constitution and its Code of Ethics and Conduct.
Wan Fayhsal had previously declined to reveal any details on the party’s investigation into him, except that it had to do with "internal party matters related to the previous election”.

He added that the duo had received “hundreds” of well-wishes from other opposition and government MPs once word got out about their respective suspension and sacking from the party.
Indie MPs chime in
Meanwhile, two independent MPs, Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), also advised Wan Fayhsal and Wan Saiful to join the government bloc.
Although the duo have 14 days to appeal Bersatu’s decision, Azizi urged them not to do so.

Suhaili, on the other hand, urged Wan Fayhsal and Wan Saiful to think about their constituents’ welfare.
“I urge them to support the Madani government for the sake of their constituents,” he stated.
Azizi and Suhaili were sacked from Bersatu last year after both declared support for the government, along with four other MPs from the party. - Mkini
