Wan Fayhsal Wants Disciplinary Hearing Deferred Over Conflict Of Interest
Bersatu lawmaker Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has requested that the party’s disciplinary board proceedings against him be postponed, citing a conflict of interest among members of the panel hearing his case.
“I attended the session and appeared before the disciplinary board chaired by Radzi Abdul Manan, who is the father-in-law of (vice-president) Ahmad Faizal Azumu and also the father of one of the supreme council members.
“I have given my response, stated my position, and am ready to be tried fairly and justly by the disciplinary board on the charges against me,” he said.
However, the Machang MP said he had requested that the board’s composition be changed, as he believes several of its members have interests that conflict with those of the party leadership.
ADSWan Fayhsal (above) expressed hope that the panel lineup would be replaced to ensure a fair and transparent process.
“I’m not running away. I’m only asking for the proceedings to be postponed so that the (disciplinary board) membership can be reorganised. I’m prepared to defend myself, but it should be before a panel that is not biased,” he told reporters at the party headquarters today.
He also stressed that his case was different from that of Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and was not related to the statutory declaration (SD) issue involving Perikatan Nasional chairperson and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
“My case concerns internal party matters related to the previous election. I have never taken this issue outside the party,” he added.
According to Wan Fayhsal, the board has so far agreed to consider his request, including the possibility of replacing several panel members to reassure grassroots members.
Other disciplinary hearings
Earlier, six Bersatu leaders, including Wan Fayhsal, were summoned to appear before the disciplinary board.
The others were Wan Saiful, Ipoh Timor division chief Fadhli Ismail, Ampang division chief Isa Saidi, Hang Tuah Jaya division chief Azrudin Idris and Pendang division chief Abdul Razak Khamis.
However, Razak was unable to attend as he is abroad.

They were alleged to have collected SDs from Bersatu division chiefs nationwide to propose discussions on a leadership transition to deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.
Additionally, the board is also investigating remarks made by Wan Saiful, who is a member of Bersatu’s supreme council, against the party’s secretary-general Azmin Ali.
On Sept 25, the board had to postpone its proceedings involving several party leaders over the SD issue after failing to meet quorum due to the absence of a panel member. - Mkini
