N Sembilan Dap Veterans Wear Pad Masks To Protest Outsider Senator
The Negeri Sembilan DAP Veterans Club has slammed the state party committee for “selling out” Negeri Sembilan people, protesting the awarding of a senator post to an “outsider”.
At a press conference, they wore custom-made “sanitary pad masks” to mock the committee members for their silence over the post being given to Johor native Vincent Wu Him Ven.
According to multiple media reports, more than 50 party veterans and Negeri Sembilan DAP branch representatives were present to protest this morning.
The veteran club’s chairperson, Lee Kong Hing, displayed the custom masks to represent what they called the state committee’s “airtight silence” when facing grassroots criticism.
“This mask is thick, dense, highly absorbent, and soundproof - it perfectly symbolises how seamlessly silent they are,” he said.
Attendees also chanted in unison, “No to outsiders! Who is he?” directly targeting Wu, who is also an appointed DAP central executive committee member.

However, it is understood that the Negeri Sembilan DAP committee plans to nominate Wu to fill the vacancy during the state assembly sitting tomorrow.
Lee further pointed out that Wu had already received a Negeri Sembilan “Datuk” title two years ago, also as an “outsider”.
Regardless, they demand that the state committee withdraw its decision and reserve the senator position for a Negeri Sembilan local.
‘We are not fools’
In anger, Lee questioned, “Negeri Sembilan has 120 branches and tens of thousands of party members - are you telling me there’s really no one qualified? Are we all dead? This is an insult to DAP members in Negeri Sembilan!”
He also stressed that the state has no shortage of qualified candidates, including lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and professionals.
“We are not fools,” he exclaimed.
Lee revealed that as early as June, he and other branches across the state had submitted names of local candidates for the state committee’s consideration.
The names included Veterans Club executive secretary Lim Yau Sin and former two-term Rahang assemblyperson Mary Josephine Pritam Singh.
However, he said the state committee never responded or held any consultation and that he only found out about the impending appointment after Wu started to be congratulated in a WhatsApp group.
“If the candidates we submitted weren’t suitable, we could have discussed it. With so many options, why insist on an outsider?”
Lee warned that if they continue to tolerate outsiders replacing Negeri Sembilan locals in government positions, then even future minister or deputy minister positions could be handed over too.
He stressed that this protest is “about the issue, not the person” and aims to defend the dignity and rights of Negeri Sembilan DAP members.
If the state committee refuses to respond, they do not rule out launching a larger protest, he added.
