Where Is Pamela Ling Dap Mp Calls For Answers In Dewan Rakyat
PARLIAMENT | A DAP lawmaker has pressed authorities for updates on the disappearance of businessperson Pamela Ling, who was abducted on April 9 while en route to MACC’s headquarters in Putrajaya.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat today, backbencher RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong) highlighted that the case had drawn public attention while the government was made the target of various criticisms.
“Although the police and the MACC are investigating (Ling’s abduction), we don’t have any news on what has happened to her, but the minister has said that the government will probe the matter and follow-up action is being taken.
“The case has become the talk of the town, and we were heavily criticised. Can we know what has happened to her?” he questioned while debating the 2023 Suhakam report.
Earlier this month, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Usuf Jan Mohamad said police are having difficulty identifying the suspects who allegedly abducted Ling.
This, he said then, is because the vehicle used by the suspect to abduct Ling had a false plate and chassis number, while the sketch of the suspect was unclear, as it had only 40 percent accuracy.
8 people involved
On May 8, Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said investigators had obtained CCTV recordings from the scene, which showed at least eight individuals involved, including two who wore police vests.
Ling’s lawyer, N Sivananthan, had also urged police to release the CCTV footage of her abduction and images of her assailants as an appeal for the public’s help to identify the kidnappers.

Lawyer Sangeet Kaur DeoOn June 16, Sangeet Kaur Deo, a legal representative for Ling’s family, said one of the vehicles believed to be involved in the incident was found near the Thai border, but police have allegedly failed to provide updates on the forensic analysis of items found inside the car.
Ling was abducted near the graft buster’s headquarters when she was on her way to meet investigators to facilitate a money laundering investigation on April 9.
While police had arrested Ling’s husband, Malaysian businessperson Thomas Hah Tiing Siu, to facilitate their probe, he was released a day later after the Putrajaya court denied the police’s application for a remand order.
The Edge previously reported that court documents filed by Ling in Singapore revealed that she has accused Hah of falsely declaring non-halal-certified meat products as halal to exploit lower import duties.
Additionally, two days before her abduction, Ling had reportedly applied for a judicial review against the MACC and the Immigration Department director-general to, among others, quash an arrest warrant against her and seek a declaration that the MACC lacks the authority to prevent anyone from departing Malaysia.
Police have since said that no political links were found in Ling’s abduction. - Mkini
