WHAT comes to your mind when the word, “low cost housing” is being mentioned? Dirty buildings with the paint peeling, terrible garbage disposal system, urine at the walkways and graffiti on the walls.
These are but some of the few images conjured up by the word. But does it necessarily have to be so? Not for a very creative lady who took the internet by storm for transforming her Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) home into a thing of luxury.
From the outside, the flat did not look like much. But inside, it was transformed into a home fitting for even those in the T20 income bracket.
White and light blue dominated the interior, lending to it a spaciousness that usually eludes a low cost flat. According to her, she subscribes to the Scandinavian style which revolves around minimalism.
Sadly, the luxurious furnishings also arose suspicion among netizens who pointed out that she may be too rich to qualify for a PPR home.
Netizen Cha’s said that if the government knew about it, she could be removed from the home. Another netizen added that she was obviously not in the B40 category, with the furniture from IKEA.

MADDIE, however, countered that she had lived there for 17 years and that she may have been poor back then, hence qualifying for it.

Then there was Michi who took the limelight with his comment, “Why is it that the glass-walled toilet is beside the washing machine? Is it so that the people who are washing the clothes can have a chat with the person who is defecating?”

Looking at the spaciousness and style that oozes from every angle of her home, we could only congratulate her for a job well done.
On a separate note, we also think she could consider a career as an interior designer, assuming of course the renovation was all her idea. —Focus Malaysia
