Corn Seller Goes Viral For Racist Notice Sorry Ini Jagung Tiada Jual Sama Orang Keling
MIC deputy president M Saravanan expressed his shock over a recent controversial video which has surfaced on TikTok. He called on the government, especially the National Unity Ministry, to take immediate action.
In the video, user mira.ashwath pointed out a notice on the stall of a street seller which states, “Sorry, ini jagung tiada jual sama orang Keling."
Saravanan emphasised that such behavior does not represent the entire Malay community, but rather reflects the actions of a few misguided and racist individuals.
The video has since garnered thousands of comments and shares from fellow TikTokers, with many expressing their disgust over the incident.

“The danger is that it could provoke a reaction from other communities, such as an angry Malaysian Indian trader displaying a similar sign, potentially sparking a chain reaction of hostility,” he told Focus Malaysia.
A good number of TikTokers also advised the lady to make a police report while others inquired about the location of the stall.

Saravanan further stressed the importance of nipping such incidents in the bud, as allowing such behavior to persist can be extremely dangerous.
“The propagation of racial slurs and hate speech threatens to tear apart the social fabric of Malaysia, fueling division and mistrust among different communities,” he added.
Based on a number of nonchalant and light-handed comments from the online community, there appears to be a trend.

“Where is the location. I feel like I want to eat this corn,” said one netizen while another stated that this corn may be “halal.”
Others, however, tried to remain positive such as Mathi who said, “We declare ourselves only as Indian or Tamilan, pls don’t bother about the word keling. That word nothing do with we Tamilan or Indian.”
Saravanan underscored that the dangers of racism, if left unchecked, could lead to long-term negative consequences for the country.
He said to safeguard the nation’s unity and harmony, it is essential that all forms of hate speech, racial slurs, and discriminatory behavior are swiftly addressed and eradicated. —Focus Malaysia
