After Submitting Memo To King Ngos Urge Pm To Resign In 2 Days
GBMRM coordinator Mustafa Mansor and several of its members arrived at Gate 3 of Istana Negara at 10.30am to hand the memorandum over to the Palace.KUALA LUMPUR: After submitting a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the government’s “failure” to manage the pandemic, a coalition of NGOs has urged Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his Cabinet to resign by Friday.
Gabungan Bertindak Memorandum Rakyat Malaysia (GBMRM) coordinator Mustafa Mansor felt that allowing Perikatan Nasional to continue governing the country would cause the situation to worsen.
He also urged Malaysians to wave a white flag and dress in white in solidarity with those who lost their lives to Covid-19, if Muhyiddin fails to step down by Friday.
“It’s time for this illegitimate government to step down respectfully. It isn’t just political parties who are calling for their resignation, but NGOs and the people.
“We have given Muhyiddin’s government ample time and chances. It has come to a point where if we give them another chance, it would cause greater harm,” he told reporters after submitting the memorandum to Istana Negara here today.
Mustafa and several GBMRM members arrived at Gate 3 of Istana Negara at 10.30am to hand the memorandum over to the Palace.
It was the sixth memorandum GBMRM had handed on the Muhyiddin government, and Mustafa said it represented the people’s voice on PN’s failure to govern the country amid the health and economic crises.
He also pleaded with the King and the Malay Rulers to consider the requests made in the memorandum.
He said Muhyiddin needed to end the Emergency as it clearly failed to curb the spread of Covid-19, and to reopen Parliament to give the MPs with a strong majority support the mandate to form a new government.
Mustafa said PN had lost its majority when Umno announced its withdrawal of support for Muhyiddin last week. - FMT
