My Hometown Tanah Merah

Although Tanah Merah is a small town, it holds a special place in my heart because it is the town where I was born. Tanah Merah, or Tanoh Meghoh, used to be a quiet area, but it has undergone major changes over the past decade. Its landscape is greatly shaped by the Kelantan River, and the town itself is rich in history. The old buildings are the identity of Tanah Merah—they reflect the changes the town has gone through, the challenges of past wars, and the prosperity of its people.


There are many places of interest in my hometown. Firstly, tourists would be drawn to the Guillemard Bridge, a single-track railway truss bridge located in Kusial. This rustic yet magnificent bridge was built in 1925 and officially opened by Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad IV. The view from the bridge is breathtaking, allowing tourists to see the beautiful river below. Today, the Guillemard Bridge has become a popular spot for wedding photography.


  Another highlight for tourists is the Bukit Bunga Free-Trade Zone. Bukit Bunga is a village located at the Malaysia–Thailand border in Kelantan. The area has the atmosphere of a bustling truck stop, with roadside stalls selling both local and imported Thai products. Tourists can buy souvenirs here at very reasonable prices. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments from stalls selling drinks and fresh fruits.

  For tourists seeking more excitement, Putera Valley Resort is the perfect destination. It is an ideal place to relax and create precious memories with family and friends. Those who want to unwind or enjoy outdoor activities will find this resort especially appealing. It offers chalets and a variety of thrilling activities such as flying fox, paintball, water crossing, abseiling, and many more. Visitors can truly enjoy a fun-filled holiday with everything the resort has to offer.
In conclusion, even though Tanah Merah is a small town, it is full of interesting attractions. I am proud to call this wonderful town my hometown.
