22 Sentenced To Jail Fined For Being Gisbh Members
The Shah Alam High Court has sentenced GISB Holding Sdn Bhd (GISBH) CEO Nasiruddin Ali and 21 others to jail and fines for being members of an unlawful organisation.
Judge Latifah Tahar sentenced the 13 male accused to 15 months of imprisonment each and the nine female accused to RM4,500 in fines each, or seven months jail time if they failed to pay the fine.
She meted out the sentence today after all 22 individuals pleaded guilty to an alternative charge under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966 this morning.
“Having considered their guilty plea and that they have been in remand for one year, one month and 20 days, as well as they were sorry and have repented for their wrongs, the court sentenced them to 15 months imprisonment for each 13 male accused, beginning from their date of arrest, which was Sept 25 till Oct 12, 2024.
ADS“(While) for every female accused, the court fined them RM4,500 each after considering their guilty plea, and that they have been in remand for six months, and seven months’ jail if they fail to pay the amount of fines,” she said in delivering her decision during the proceeding held in Kajang Prison court.
The judge further ordered that 22 mobile phones belonging to the accused be returned administratively.

GISBH CEO Nasiruddin AliPreviously, Nasiruddin, his wife, Azura Yusof, and 20 others were charged at the Selayang Sessions Court on Oct 23, 2024, with being organised crime members, between October 2020 and September 2024, at a premise in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang.
Their charge were framed under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between five and 20 years.
One of the individuals charged was Adib At-Tamimi, 33, the son of Al-Arqam’s founder, the late Ashaari Muhammad.
The other accused are: Shukri Noor, 54; Afdaluddin Latif, 35; Sayuti Omar, 36; Fazil Jasin, 58; Dhirar Fakhrur Razi, 35; Mokhtar Tajuddin, 61; Fajrul Islam Khalid, 29; Abu Ubaidah Ahmad Shukri, 35; Shuhaimi Mohamed, 57; Hasnan Abd Hamid, 54; and Zahid Azhar @ Nadzri, 52.
Also charged were Khalilatul-Zalifah Jamil, 28; Nur Jannah Omar, 33; Hamimah Yakub, 72; Asmat @ Asmanira Ramly, 45; Nurul Jannah Idris, 29; Siti Salmiah Ismail, 58; Siti Hajar Ismail, 52; and Mahani Kasim, 55.

The male accused were denied bail at that time, while the female accused were granted bail of RM40,000 with two sureties on March 24.
The accused then sent a representation letter to the Attorney-General’s Chamber (AGC) on May 26, proposing several changes to their charge, including for the charge to be framed under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1996, which the AGC accepted.
Members apologise for religious deviation
Earlier, Nasiruddin’s lawyer Rosli Kamaruddin submitted that all the accused have repented and admitted their wrongs of having deviated from the Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah’s teachings.
“All the accused have apologised, regretted, and repented for following some wrong teachings (anutan yang salah) that deviated from the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah, and they gave their undertakings to the court that they will not repeat their wrongs.
ADS“They pleaded for the court to apply its discretion, in asking for mercy and compassion as well as forgiveness in sentencing,” he said in pleading for a minimal sentence for the accused.
Deputy public prosecutor Shafiq Hashim, in reply, asked the court to consider a deterrent sentence of imprisonment to prevent recurring offences, given the impact the illegal organisation may have on national security and social aspects.
“We requested that the court consider the public interest factor in determining sentences (for the accused), that are in line with sentencing trends for offences under Section 43.
“I pray for the court not to consider the accused’s age in determining the sentence because they were all adults who were mature enough to differentiate between good and evil when they committed the offence.

Apart from Rosli, the defence was also handled by lawyers Hasnan Hamzah, Boestamam Ahmad, Dorina Abdullah, Shahrudin Othman, Kamal Hisham Ja’afar, Muhammad Nor Tamrin, and Hafiz Zainol Abidin.
Prosecution was handled by Shafiq and deputy public prosecutors Norinna Bahadun and Fakhrurrazi Ahmad Salim. - Mkini
