All 22 Gisbh Members To Be Freed Today As Sentences Backdated
All GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) members, who pleaded guilty to being members of an unlawful organisation this morning, will be freed today.
This is because they have completed their prison term, given that their sentence began from their date of arrest, said their lawyers Kamal Hisham Jaafar and Rosli Sulaiman when met after proceedings at the Kajang Prison Court.
“The jail term for (all) the male accused began from their date of arrest, which was (between) Sept 25 till Oct 12 last year, and they have been maintained in remand.
“The court considered these in deciding the sentence. (So) including the quarter remission and the remand term, (all) the male accused have completed their jail time.
ADS“While for the female accused, their sureties are prepared to pay their fines (after the proceeding) so they will walk free afterwards,” said Kamal.

Earlier, the Shah Alam High Court sentenced 13 male GISBH members to 15 months of jail and fined nine female members RM4,500 each.
The sentence was meted out after all members pleaded guilty to being members of an unlawful organisation, which was an alternative charge offered by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) after accepting their representation letter.
The alternative charge was framed under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966.
Previously, the members, including GISBH CEO Nasiruddin Ali (above) and his wife Azura Yusof, were charged on Oct 23 with being organised crime members, between October 2020 and September 2024, at a premise in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, Selangor.
Their charge was framed under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between five and 20 years.
One of the individuals charged was Adib At-Tamimi, 33, the son of Al-Arqam’s founder, the late Ashaari Muhammad.
The other accused are: Shukri Noor, 54; Afdaluddin Latif, 35; Sayuti Omar, 36; Fazil Jasin, 58; Dhirar Fakhrur Razi, 35; Mokhtar Tajuddin, 61; Fajrul Islam Khalid, 29; Abu Ubaidah Ahmad Shukri, 35; Shuhaimi Mohamed, 57; Hasnan Abd Hamid, 54; and Zahid Azhar @ Nadzri, 52.

Also charged were Khalilatul-Zalifah Jamil, 28; Nur Jannah Omar, 33; Hamimah Yakub, 72; Asmat @ Asmanira Ramly, 45; Nurul Jannah Idris, 29; Siti Salmiah Ismail, 58; Siti Hajar Ismail, 52; and Mahani Kasim, 55.
Back to mainstream Islamic teachings
Meanwhile, Rosli told Malaysiakini the GISBH members, especially Nasiruddin, were relieved with today’s decision and hoped to return to the right path of mainstream Islamic teachings.
“He’s (Nasiruddin) very happy. He was relieved when their representation letters were accepted, and with today’s decision.
ADS“All he wants is to be out of jail and to return to the mainstream Islamic teachings, which are the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah,” said the lawyer.
Rosli further said he will be advising GISBH members to prepare a proposal paper in seeking cooperation with the government.
“I gave them a stern warning to make sure there is no more GISBH (and) I will advise them to prepare a project paper to be sent to the government within the next three months.
“I will advise them to explain and clarify themselves in the proposal paper and request any cooperation with the government, among other things.
“(This is because) they have many technically skilled workers, so we do not want the skills to go to waste,” Rosli said.
He added that the members have consistently joined programmes held by the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) since they were on remand. - Mkini
