Just Revoke Citizenship Of Muhyiddin S Sil For Using Foreign Passport If It S So Difficult To Track Him Down

SUCH was the response of man-on-the-street Malaysians following the admission by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) that it has been a struggle for the graft buster to extradite former premier Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan.
This came about after the MACC head honcho Tan Sri Azam Baki revealed that the fugitive businessman is likely using a foreign passport to travel abroad since his Malaysian one had already been revoked by the Immigration Department.
“If he’s using another passport to travel, isn’t it paramount to remove his citizenship as Malaysia doesn’t allow dual citizenship,” wondered a company director in a reaction to a Free Malaysia Today (FMT) Facebook post on the difficulty to trace Adlan’s whereabouts.

This was when one commenter pointed to the fact that Malaysia can no longer act on Berhan if his Malaysian citizenship is revoked for “he can claim asylum abroad”

To re-cap, Adlan Berhan who is wanted by the MACC for alleged criminal breach of trust (CBT) is believed to be living a lavish life in the Middle East as per a New Straits Times (NST) report.
Alongside his lawyer Mansoor Saat, he has been evading authorities for more than two years over his alleged role in the RM595 mil National Enforcement and Registration System (NERS) Biometrics project.
The 49-year-old Adlan had reportedly left the country for New Zealand on May 17, 2023 shortly after Muhyiddin was charged with several counts of corruption.
Pointing to the age-old adage “if there’s a will, there’s a way”, one commenter ticked off Azam for his deemed invalid excuses. “Nonsense. With big international rewards for tip off, it can be done,” he contended.

Others also seconded the “lack of initiative” given “difficult shouldn’t be conceived as cannot”.

Some commenters suggested leveraging the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) Interpol connections or simply “put up a reward handsomely … then the high stake goes viral”.

This is when some irritated commenters drew comparison with the failure of the police to track down the ex-husband of kindergarten teacher M. Indira Gandhi despite the man who has been listed under an Interpol Red Notice for the abduction of his own daughter is living a normal life within the Malaysian borders.

Little wonder a commenter derived at the bleak conclusion that laws are often tweaked to suit the elite class.
“Being a billionaire or a foreign footballer here has its own set of perks. Even crooked things can be made straight again. The system only crushes the middle and lower classes.”
