16 Bersatu Mps Tell Muhyiddin Punishment Of Leaders Unwise

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah who confirmed the letter said the MPs also disagreed with the move to summon Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to the disciplinary board.KUALA LUMPUR: Sixteen Bersatu members of parliament (MPs) have signed a letter to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin expressing concern over the sacking and suspension taken against party leaders, describing the move as "unwise".
In the Oct 23 letter sighted by Berita Harian, the MPs said the punishments were "ill-timed" and could affect support for Perikatan Nasional's (PN) alternative budget.
The MPs, including Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, who confirmed he submitted the letter to Bersatu president Muhyiddin, were referring to the sacking of Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and the one-term suspension of Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
They also disagreed with the "illogical" move to summon Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to the disciplinary board.
Saifuddin, who was replaced as Pahang PN chief last week, confirmed Muhyiddin read the letter and had responded.
According to him, Muhyiddin said that Bersatu's disciplinary board's decision was consistent with the party's constitution and that he had never interfered.
The New Straits Times is reaching out to Muhyiddin for comment.
"I said the letter was about Bersatu MPs conveying their concerns, not an appeal on behalf of the three MPs (Hamzah, Wan Saiful, and Wan Ahmad Fayhsal)," he said.
"Sixteen MPs are in solidarity with the three MPs involved with the disciplinary board. So, that makes 19 MPs.
He added they did not involve two other MPs who are party vice-presidents, so the total number of those who disagree could be higher than 19.
Saifuddin added that he has informed the MPs of Muhyiddin's response and said there was no need to do anything more.
The other signatories, aside from Saifuddin, include Ketereh MP Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor and Muhammad Islahuddin Abas (Mersing).
The list continues with Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik), Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail (Kubang Pasu), Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (Rompin), and Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut).
Other signatories were Zakri Hassan (Kangar), Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar), Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Masjid Tanah), Roslan Hashim (Kulim Bandar Baharu), Azahari Hasan (Padang Rengas), Kalam Salan (Sabak Bernam), and Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (Merbok). - NST
