Bersatu Associate Wing Backs Muhyiddin As Pressure Mounts
R Sri Sanjeevan claims the pressure mounting on Muhyiddin Yassin was a conspiracy from both within and outside Bersatu.

Its vice-chief, R Sri Sanjeevan, said Bersatu should not be distracted from preparing for the next general election, claiming the pressure mounting on Muhyiddin was a conspiracy from both within and outside, aimed at causing disunity in the party.
He said those in Bersatu calling for Muhyiddin to step down as party president have forgotten his contributions, particularly how he provided opportunities and positions in the previous government he led.
“Now is not the time to play politics or grapple for power. Instead, it’s the time to close ranks, strengthen the party machinery and go down to the ground to help those going through tough times.
“It’s time that we put an end to backstabbing in politics. Every member loyal to the party’s struggle must speak out against these traitors.
“The Bersatu associate wing remains steadfast and loyal to Muhyiddin. We strongly reject any effort to threaten his leadership and will continue fighting for the party’s unity and stability,” he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Dungun Bersatu called on Muhyiddin to go on garden leave and for party secretary-general Azmin Ali to be dropped as secretary-general, following public spats between high-profile leaders.
During Bersatu’s general assembly last month, a small group of delegates shouted at Muhyiddin as he delivered his keynote speech, urging him to step down.
The Perikatan Nasional chairman had revealed that there were certain quarters in Bersatu collecting signatures to oust him.
The turmoil has led to the sacking of Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and the suspension of Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
Wan Saiful had however accused several figures close to Muhyiddin of straining ties among top leaders, singling out Azmin and Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz in particular. - FMT
