Ampang Bersatu Withdraws Confidence Urges Muhyiddin To Quit
Ampang Bersatu today called for party president Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation, following the local division committee’s decision to unanimously withdraw confidence in the party president’s leadership.
The division said this was because Muhyiddin had failed to subdue an ongoing crisis brewing within Bersatu.
Ampang Bersatu secretary Daing Mohamad Daing Makati said in a statement today that the decision was made during a committee meeting on Oct 28, following an open discussion about the party’s direction and stability.
Daing Mohamad described that they had been aware of the party’s “significant internal upheaval”, particularly involving the relationship between the party’s secretary-general, Azmin Ali, and information chief, Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, with a large number of the party’s divisional leaders nationwide.
“Acknowledging the failure of the top leadership, especially the president, to address and advise the two leaders to strengthen internal party relations has led to increasingly severe fragmentation among the grassroots and division leadership.
“Hence, Ampang Bersatu, with full responsibility and awareness, has decided to withdraw confidence in Muhyiddin’s leadership as our party president,” he said.

Daing Mohamad also called for an orderly and inclusive leadership transition plan to ensure the party remains strong, especially ahead of the next general election.
Growing criticism
The Ampang division’s withdrawal of support came amidst mounting internal tensions within Bersatu, following reports that several leaders and divisions have been dissatisfied with the party’s leadership.
At the party’s annual general assembly this year, several delegates had openly called for Muhyiddin to resign, causing a stir.
Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, who had been suspended from the party, had previously described Muhyiddin as “no longer relevant” following Bersatu’s poor performance in several state elections.
The party’s Indera Mahkota MP, Saifuddin Abdullah, also urged Muhyiddin to resign, alleging that the former prime minister had lost the leadership qualities he once possessed. Saifuddin has since been removed as Pahang Perikatan Nasional liaison chief.
Saifuddin had claimed that the PN chief and Pagoh MP no longer displayed leadership based on civility, knowledge, and skill, as he did when the party was first founded. - Mkini
