Set pay cap for federal statutory bodies’ top guns, PAC tells govt
Bluemountains: It is quite apparent there are no guidelines when it comes to the salaries and perks for those in charge of statutory bodies and government-linked companies.
There is also no control over the payment of salaries or perks to menteris besar and chief ministers, resulting in many of them drawing significantly higher salaries than the prime minister himself.
The practice of allowing them to determine their salaries and perks must be put to a stop immediately.
It’s an abuse of the system as the quantum of salaries paid is not based on any performance indicator.

About 10 million citizens are beneficiaries of quoted government-linked companies that practise annual salary increases for staff and fees for directors without committing to annual dividend growth or increase.
Good suggestion from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to set a ceiling so there will be no excessive payments.
Perhaps the PAC can also recommend a cap for the pensions that politicians can receive upon retirement. Why is this not talked about?

Agree with @Bornean that two should be the limit for most. I would suggest, however, that the most important is to get the most honest, best and competent people and pay them well enough, accompanied by bonuses for achievements and results.
Stress more on having honest leaders and officials with honesty defined in all aspects.

Anwar should find ways to reduce the costs of goods and not keep increasing salaries, especially for civil servants only.
