Allocation given to all K’tan reps, says PAS
8.30pm: Renok, Gua Musang – PAS central committee member Wan Rohimi Wan Daud reportedly denies former Nenggiri assemblyperson Mohd Azizi Abu Naim’s claim that the latter did not receive any funding from the Kelantan government.
A Sinar Harian report today quotes Wan Rohimi saying all Kelantan assemblypersons including in Nenggiri are given the same allocation: RM241,000 for development funds, RM90,000 for assisting the poor, RM12,000 for basic amenities for agriculture and fisheries, RM215,000 for Rumah Dhuafa free housing programme, RM100,000 for village roads, and RM35,000 for miscellaneous contributions.
“The allocations are there, but you didn’t use it. Were you doing any work?” he reportedly tells a ceramah held in Renok on Monday night.
Harapan lets Umno lead campaign
7.30pm: Kuala Lumpur - Pakatan Harapan leaders appear to have no qualms about letting Umno lead the charge in the Nenggiri campaign.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli tells reporters in Kuala Lumpur that Umno is more familiar with the area, while DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke says his party accepts Umno’s view that there is little need for DAP to join campaigning.
Having Harapan stay out of Nenggiri could boost Umno’s chances of wresting the seat from Perikatan Nasional, according to former Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin, since there is less room for confusion about the Umno candidate’s allegiance.
‘Explain 54 new approvals for forest exploration’
3.30pm: Umno questions the Kelantan government’s alleged approval of 54 new forest exploration activities in Ulu Nenggiri, Gua Musang within two years.
The party’s Nenggiri by-election deputy director Mohd Syabuddin Hashim says this is clearly against the Kelantan government’s decision to freeze any approval for forest exploration activities.
“Through applications with the Environment Department, we managed to detect no less than 54 new forest exploration approvals for various purposes, such as plantations, forest enrichment, and mining activities in the Gua Musang area, particularly in the Ulu Nenggiri area.
“The rakyat in Nenggiri have been struggling for a long time to get land grants, while the PAS-led state government, which promised them a transparent and fair administration, has secretly granted various exploration concessions to many companies, including non-Muslim ones,” he tells a press conference.
Syabudin responds to PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim dismissing as rumours, claims that the Kelantan government is leasing land, including logging areas, to foreigners. - Mkini
