Yoursay Pas Should Put Its Kelantan House In Order First
YOURSAY | 'Try to get investors into Kelantan so that the youth can get jobs.''Harapan presidential council has no locus standi to determine next PM'Anonymous Malaysia2018: Pakatan Harapan is holding the power to choose the prime minister. It did the arrangement and Dr Mahathir Mohamad became the prime minister
It also decided that PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim would be the next PM. So, why does PAS think that it has the locus standi to pick the next PM? It cannot even take care of Kelantan
They are just small fish in the small pond. Now, PAS likes to poke from behind when it cannot poke from the front, like it did in the last general election. It is rather strange that it wishes to play the opposite game of confidence in the PM to complete his five-year term
PAS should keep their nose close to matters related to Kelantan and not sniff around Putrajaya. Try to get investors into Kelantan so that the youth can get jobs. PAS should get their house in order first
It would be woe to the nation if you ever step into Putrajaya. The economy will go down. Investors may not come here
They may go to Thailand, Indonesia or Singapore. Our youth may have to go overseas for jobs
Anonymous 770241447347646: Here we go around the mulberry bush. PAS leaders, one after another, want to give their views. Surprisingly, they were not so vocal when the plundering of the nation was going on
It is the Harapan administration that will decide on who will be the next PM. The question of support will be answered in due time
If Mahathir is genuine to hand the baton over to Anwar, he will give his full support to Anwar and even ask his people to back the PM-in-waiting
Anwar, DAP, Amanah and Warisan have stood by Mahathir, even when he was leading the party with the least MPs
Purportedly, PAS keeps trying to create friction among the coalition partners and leaders, but no religion teaches its followers to be belligerent
Quigonbond: PAS must be getting desperate to turn our Federal Constitution and constitutional conventions into toilet paper
First, they say key positions (whatever this means) can only be filled by Muslims. So, if assuming a Harapan Christian/Buddhist non-Malay politician converts to Muslim, then it’s okay, no problem to become PM
They'll think of another excuse then. It must only be Malay Muslim. You can bet your bottom dollar it will be a shifting goalpost situation
On their latest argument, Harapan alone cannot decide. But what Harapan decides, their MPs should toe the line and vote accordingly for Anwar to take over
This is all PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang's doing. He broke ranks with Pakatan Rakyat last time because he couldn't become second fiddle to Anwar. It got worse after his progressive lieutenants all left to form a new party
Then he hoped then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak would win the general election and PAS will finally have a place in the federal government. Again, his judgment was wrong
Now Hadi will say anything to remain relevant. He is not guided by the moral imperatives of his religion touching on compassion, openness, proper understanding and virtuous living, among others. His religion is just a means to a political end
Just look at Kelantan and Terengganu. Other than waiting for federal money and buying expensive cars, what have they been doing to serve their constituents meaningfully
If a federal government (comprising a non-Muslim key minister) demonstrates an effort to uplift Muslims, shouldn't such a minister be supported on the account of compassion, kindness and charity
The puzzle is this. PAS has thinkers, professionals and moderate people for members. Why do they continue to support Hadi Awang and his brand of divisive politics
I suppose the lure of power corrupts even the most devoutly virtuous and faithful
Anonymous_1543386425: Harapan after GE14 had at least 112 MPs, a majority in Parliament
When Mahathir steps down, how many MPs will Anwar have? Anwar currently does not have the full support of the 50 PKR MPs
He also might not have the support of Bersatu MPs - so his appointment must be put to a motion of confidence in Parliament, not at the Harapan presidential council where some opposition MPs may give him support. This could mean Malaysia may have its first minority government
For the sake of a “New Malaysia”, Anwar must build a strong coalition to move the nation forward or move aside for some other leader to do it. We cannot afford to have a grand Malay coalition
Susahkes: The real issue is not what those in PAS say. What really matters is what Mahathir says. Or should I say what signal keeps emanating from Mahathir's radar? Ambiguous, open-ended, riddled with riddles
(But) Mahathir can shut these lebai (pious Muslims) up by stating a firm handover date. That would also assure voters. But we seem to have gone past even that because whatever Mahathir says these days, you must add a caveat emptor
There you go. I, too, can sprout Latin terminology
Gerard Lourdesamy: This MP (Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, above) must be the proverbial village idiot. The Harapan coalition has a whopping majority of 138 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat (including their allies Warisan and Upko) out of 222 MPs
Therefore, if the Harapan presidential council fixes a date for the transition and it is supported by all Harapan MPs in the Parliament, there is no need for a vote on the floor of the House
All Anwar needs to show the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the endorsement of the four Harapan party leaders plus Warisan and Upko. If this PAS leader claims Harapan does not have the majority, then his party PAS should be moving a motion of no confidence in the government and not a motion of confidence in the PM at the next sitting of the Dewan Rakyat
And Justice For All: Ahmad Fadli, you can move a motion of no confidence against Anwar after he is appointed as PM if you are so confident that you have the numbers
Other than that, please do not waste our time with your unheard of unconventional parliamentary actions. Please observe the Constitution at all times and adhere to Parliament rules. - Mkini
