Trustee Refusing To Sign Over Kl Land To Umno Zahid Says
Umno confirmed that an individual who is a trustee for a plot of land in Kuala Lumpur still refuses to sign a release document even after the other trustees have done so.
This concerns a 9,723 square metre (0.97 hectare) plot of land that Umno seeks to transfer into its ownership.
Party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said individuals appointed as trustees should relinquish their responsibilities after no longer holding positions in the party or government.
“Some individuals still refuse to do so, even though three other trustees signed the release document,” he told reporters in Kuantan, Pahang, today.
The four trustees for the land in question include the late Daim Zainuddin, the late Sanusi Junid, Musa Hitam, and Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Zahid, who is also the deputy prime minister, made his comments after a question about Umno filing an originating summons to obtain a court declaration over the transfer of the land to the party.
He explained that a law firm had issued a letter urging the individual involved to sign the release, but no response has been received thus far.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that the summons was filed by Umno executive secretary Mohd Sumali Reduan, as the plaintiff through law firm Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, on March 6.
He named the Registrar of the Federal Territory Land and Mines Office as the defendant.
Lawyer Nor Hazira Abu Haiyan, who represented Umno, said the court set May 2 for case management.
In the suit, Umno sought an order for the transfer of ownership regarding Grant 78154, Lot 40 Section 51, Kuala Lumpur City, which is registered in the names of the four trustees. - Mkini
