Rompin Mp Alleges Broker Offered Quid Pro Quo To Support Anwar

Another opposition lawmaker has claimed to have been approached by a “broker” believed to be recruiting MPs to support the government.
Rompin MP Abdul Khalib Abdullah claimed to have first received an email from the alleged broker last October.
“At that time, I did not think the individual had ulterior motives, they only sent an email saying they wanted to discuss a development project in Rompin.
“Then, between December and January, they contacted me on WhatsApp asking to meet.
“They asked what aid was needed by Rompin’s constituents, which is when I started to feel something was off,” Khalib (above) said when met in Kampung Rekoh, near Muadzam Shah today.
He added that he decided not to meet the “broker” and asked the individual to contact his aide instead.
He declined to reveal who the person who contacted him was.
However, he said that Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas had told him that he had also been approached with a similar offer.
Khalib believed the six Perikatan Nasional MPs who have declared support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim were also likely contacted by the same “broker”.
The six MPs who have switched support are Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) dan Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi (Tanjong Karang).
Zahari and Azizi had previously dismissed allegations that they were coerced or coaxed into supporting Anwar.
Standing fast with Bersatu
Syed Abu Hussin, who has been the most vocal of the PN “turncoats”, claimed that more opposition lawmakers would be switching sides, including one from Pahang.
Khalib today dismissed the Bukit Gantang MP’s claims as being baseless.
“What irks me most is that he said (there would be a supporter) from Pahang. 
“In Pahang, there is only myself and Indera Mahkora (Saifuddin Abdullah), and we don’t support Anwar,” he said.
The first-time MP said he would remain steadfast with Bersatu and would serve his constituents even without funding from Putrajaya. - Mkini
