Puad Urges Pas Ngos To Cancel Jan 6 Rally Following Umno S No Go

Following Umno’s decision to cancel its rally on Jan 6, its supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi urged PAS and other NGOs to do the same.
“Umno respects the Malay rulers. Hence, we abide by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree and are confident in His Majesty’s wisdom in ensuring justice for former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
“So, it’s best for PAS and other NGOs to follow suit. If Umno, a party directly affected by Najib’s case can do so (cancel the rally), why not others?” Puad (above) asked on Facebook today.
In a statement today, People’s Progressive Party (MyPPP) secretary-general Inder Singh Beant Singh announced that his party is also opting out of the rally following the palace’s decree.
Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that his party has called off its Jan 6 rally for Najib, who would be attending a court hearing regarding the purported royal addendum allowing him to serve his remaining prison sentence at home.
Asyraf Wajdi DusukiThis comes after a decree from Istana Negara on the king’s pardon prerogative and a warning from the inspector-general of police not to attend the rally.
“Umno will never act contrary to the Constitution and remains committed to respecting all rules and laws as decreed by His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“In line with the principle of upholding His Majesty’s decree and following the directive from the inspector-general of police, Umno has decided not to proceed with the assembly scheduled for Jan 6.
“Umno places its full confidence in the benevolence and wisdom of His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, in delivering full justice to Najib,” Asyraf was reported as saying.
Earlier yesterday, Istana Negara reminded all quarters that anyone who wishes to seek clemency for a prisoner must submit their application to the Pardons Board.
“If any quarters wish for a prisoner to be granted a full pardon or a reduction in their sentence, the application must be made by the convicted person to the Pardons Board chaired by the Agong in the next meeting for consideration.
“And we remind all quarters to respect the Federal Constitution and all related laws,” Istana Negara said in a statement posted on Facebook.
