Pn Nearing Death Pas Leader Warns Amid Bersatu Infighting

A PAS leader has a bleak outlook for Perikatan Nasional's future, amid a power tussle in Bersatu over the party presidency.
In a brief social media post, Zuhdi Marsuki said the opposition coalition was showing signs of “nazak” (nearing death).
"I have said before that PN is facing a major problem. If it is not cured immediately, PN will be nearing death," the former PAS central committee member said.
Previously, in September, he said PN was in critical condition while remarking how in the past decade, PAS has been in three pacts, two of which - Gagasan Sejahtera and Muafakat Nasional - have died.
While Zuhdi did not elaborate on his remarks today, it comes after Bersatu's Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah openly called for party president Muhyiddin Yassin - who is also PN chief - to step down.
Saifuddin also took aim at his former PKR ally, Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali, saying the latter should be removed to rid the party of "moral issues".
Bersatu MP Saifuddin AbdullahMuhyiddin's rivals want him to cede power to his deputy Hamzah Zainudin.
It has been speculated that there are some quarters in PAS that have been supporting the leadership transition push.
PAS - which is the biggest party in PN with 43 Parliament seats - has also stated its intentions to take charge of PN.
External influences
In a separate statement today, Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz speculated whether the party's infighting is the result of unnamed external influences.
He also dismissed Saifuddin's call for Muhyiddin to resign, arguing that the party president is the reason why people support Bersatu.
"His experienced, honourable leadership, that consistently champions the people's interest, is the main factor that sustains public confidence in Bersatu," he said.
Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail AzizHe cited a survey by Institut Masa Depan Malaysia (Masa) in July that found 41 percent of respondents were satisfied with Muhyiddin's performance, compared to 30 percent for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Muhyiddin founded Masa in 2020.
Echoing Tun Faisal's sentiments, Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid today also called on the party's disciplinary board to take action against Saifuddin for rebelling against Muhyiddin. - Mkini
