Don T Cross The Line Deputy Speaker Warns Pas Mp On Racial Issues
PARLIAMENT | Deputy Dewan Rakyat speaker Ramli Nor has warned PAS' Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PN-Pengkalan Chepa) not to "cross the line" when speaking on racial issues.
Ramli (above) cautioned that he will perform his duty as a deputy speaker to obstruct those who violate the house's guidelines, no matter which side they fall on.
This occurred during Marzuk's debate on the Supply Bill when he touched on income inequality and low home ownership rates among the bumiputera community.
He also pointed to the decreasing amount of Malay reserve land.
"This gap, if not addressed courageously, will become a small fire that burns the people's confidence in the concept of national balance that is the foundation of the country.
"Some people caused controversy when I wrote that we should learn from the history of Palestine. Those who criticise this read it with emotion, not with knowledge.
"I want to emphasise in this hall that this comparison is not about war, not about religion, not about hatred, but about the lesson of losing power and land when a race itself becomes complacent," Marzuk said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

This caused RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong) to raise Standing Order 36(10)(c) against the PAS MP for allegedly promoting hostility between different communities.
Ramli dismissed Rayer, saying Marzuk had yet to cross the line.
Then, Howard Lee (Harapan-Ipoh Timor) raised Standing Order 36(12) against Marzuk for allegedly misleading the house.
The DAP lawmaker said that Marzuk had referred to his recent controversial remarks, which the former said had likened non-Malays and non-Muslims to the Zionists of Israel.

Ipoh Timor MP Howard LeeOn Oct 20, Marzuk shared on Facebook excerpts from his speech in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, where he had urged Muslims to learn from Palestine’s history, claiming that “signs of the same thing happening” could now be seen in Malaysia.
“The economic sector is increasingly dominated by non-Muslims and non-bumiputera. Major malls, key companies, and strategic lands have long slipped from the grasp of Muslims.
“Now, their steps have reached Putrajaya - drafting laws, writing acts, and slowly redrawing the political power map of this nation,” Marzuk has said.
He further warned that “Palestine’s history is now writing a new chapter on Malaysian soil if we remain asleep”, linking the alleged trend to PAS’ political struggle.
Ramli dismissed Lee's motion as well, saying he had yet to find words intended to mislead the house.
Pendang MP chimes in
Following this, Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) rose to defend Marzuk.

Pendang MP Awang HashimThe fellow PAS member said Marzuk had merely issued a friendly reminder "so that we do not become like the Zionists.
"Selling land, buying land, in the end it will end with genocide."
This caused another furore to erupt, this time aimed at Awang, as Lee, Rayer and Ramkarpal Singh (Harapan-Bukit Gelugor) rose to object .
Ramli went on to clarify that although he had yet to see anything that "crossed the line", once he did, he himself would act to stop such actions.
