Pkr Leadership Summoned To Discuss Polls Post Mortem Post For Rafizi
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has summoned the party’s newly elected leadership to meet and have a post-mortem of last week’s internal polls and decide on appointed office bearers.
Amirudin Shari, who retained his vice-presidency, said on the agenda is also a discussion on an appointed post for Rafizi Ramli, who was ousted as party deputy president on Friday.
ADS“He (Rafizi) still wants to contribute (to the party) and, hopefully, he can because he promised not to leave,” Free Malaysia Today quoted Amirudin as saying last night.
He said the meeting will be held in a few days time.
Among the appointed positions in PKR are the secretary-general as well as additional vice-presidents.
Besides plans to resign as economic minister, Rafizi has indicated that he is not interested in any party positions should he lose the deputy presidency.
Declined offer
Last week, the Pandan MP revealed that during a meeting with now-deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar on May 20, she had asked him to help her after the party polls are over and alluded to a position.
However, Rafizi said he declined and would respect the outcome of the election.
Amirudin said last night that he did not know what position Nurul Izzah had offered her ousted competitor.
In the election, Nurul Izzah won the PKR deputy presidency by a landslide, with Rafizi bagging just 28 percent of votes.
Following the defeat, Rafizi said he remained resolute, vowing to press on in his fight for a better Malaysia.
“I have no intention of giving up or abandoning the ideals we have long held - that Malaysia deserves something better,” he posted on social media on Sunday. - FMT
