The PKR vice-president says only a select group of senior leaders will meet informally to discuss the matter, instead of holding an official meeting.

(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: A few chosen senior PKR leaders will have an informal meeting to discuss a potential role for former deputy president Rafizi Ramli following his defeat in the internal polls last week, says PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari
He said the party would not convene a formal meeting to discuss the matter but would finalise the decision made at these informal talks at the upcoming central leadership meeting, Harian Metro reported.
“I have no dates yet for when (these talks will) happen. Let’s wait for the president to call us.
“There are many other matters to be discussed too, including preparations for the Sabah election and efforts to strengthen support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim,” he was quoted as saying.
Asked if Rafizi would be open to accepting a new post within the party, Amirudin said the matter had not yet been discussed.
“I haven’t met with Rafizi. We’ve not had that conversation. Perhaps this is a question best put to him directly.
“Of course, we’ll be discussing many matters, not just positions or placements. As leaders, we must focus on moving the party forward and finding a path to future success,” he added.
Rafizi lost the deputy presidency in a straight fight with Nurul Izzah Anwar in the party polls on Friday.
Nurul Izzah, the daughter of party president Anwar Ibrahim, won the post after securing 9,803 votes against Rafizi’s 3,866.
In the run-up to the party polls, Rafizi pledged to resign as the economy minister if he failed in his bid for re-election. - FMT
