Pkr Division Leadership Must Be Represented By All Races Says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has called for the party to ensure that the leadership at the division level is not dominated by any particular ethnic group, in line with the party’s principle of inclusivity.
Anwar, who is the prime minister, said this in view of the upcoming PKR elections in May, Bernama reported.
“I urge all members to understand this, please ensure representation from all communities. Some divisions may have 20% Chinese and 10% Indian members, while others may have none at all.
“This should be considered in the elections in line with the spirit of the party’s constitution,” he said when officiating the Selangor PKR annual general meeting at a hotel in Shah Alam last night.
He also reminded candidates that contesting in the party polls is not a path to government positions and to always rely on their own strengths, principles and capabilities in serving the party and the people.
On a separate note, Anwar reiterated his appreciation for the leadership of parties within the unity government.
He said the various party leaders, especially Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, have demonstrated strong commitment by not entertaining any attempts to disrupt the government’s stability.
“We must appreciate the support of our partners, particularly Umno, as well as GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) and GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah), who have not entertained any efforts to undermine the existing harmony.
“The challenges faced by our partners, especially Umno, are far more complex. They have endured painful episodes of electoral defeat and betrayal that are significantly more challenging than what we have experienced,” he said, according to Bernama.
Anwar also urged all PKR members and leaders to value the cooperation, spirit and consensus demonstrated by the various party leaders in the unity government. -FMT
