Kampung Sungai Baru Committee Chairman Claims Umbilical Cord Was Buried There Netizens Demand Prove Among Other Things

THE violence and forced eviction at Kampiung Sungai Baru is certainly no substance for comedy, where authorities could be seen clashing with the long-standing residents who resisted the court order.
It has been a bitter back-and-forth battle, with both sides fighting each other into a stalemate. On one side, the residents claimed the compensation was unfair and on the other, the state of the land being leasehold was brought up to justify eviction on top of the aspiration to better redevelop the area.
Recently, however, the Chairperson of the Kampung Sungai Baru Residents’ Rights Committee, Zainab Alias received the limelight for her claim over the land, stating that she had buried her umbilical cord there. Is this a case of too much information?
Safe to say, her remarks had turned into comedy material on the cyber space. Netizen @jllmisai who highlighted the topic sarcastically said it was easy to change the land title from leasehold to heritage land. All people had to do was bury their umbilical cord on the land to claim it as their own.
A quick skim through the comment section revealed more biting opinions from our fellow netizens.
“Please prove that your umbilical cord was buried there,” said netizen @f4kr0ls00d while @Travelogasia wondered if he could claim the land below KLCC if his umbilical cord was buried there.

“I can’t believe such a level of foolishness exists,” said @DillSnelling.

“Luckily the brain is not buried. Or else you have to dig it back up,” said @Nftn44bGuy.

Besides the umbilical cord, Zainab Alias further denied claims that some residents received compensation as high as RM3.8 mil, as sensationalised by certain parties.
According to Zainab, the reality is that the land in Kampung Sungai Baru holds high value due to its location next to the city centre.
“Land prices in the KLCC area can reach RM2,500 per square foot. But for our village, they have valued it far lower. This is utterly unreasonable and completely unjust,” she said.— Focus Malaysia
