Bung Sabah For Sabahans Just Political Bait Not Real Struggle
Sabah BN chairperson Bung Moktar Radin has criticised state-based parties for using the slogan “Sabah for Sabahans” as political bait, accusing them of being driven by power rather than a genuine struggle for the state’s rights.
The Kinabatangan MP said while many of these parties claim to champion Sabah’s autonomy, none have managed to unite despite their shared rhetoric.
“If they truly fought for Sabah’s rights, why are there so many local parties but not a single one can unite?
“The reality is simple - all of them want power, not to serve,” said the former deputy chief minister in a statement today.
He noted that at least 10 state parties are registered with the Registrar of Societies, yet each continues to compete for seats and influence.
“This is not a struggle for the people; it’s a struggle for power,” said the Sabah Umno chief.
His call came after Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), led by incumbent chief minister Hajiji Noor, officially launched the coalition’s election machinery in Kota Kinabalu today.
‘GRS failed to defend local interests’
Bung further took aim at the GRS government, saying its record showed that being a so-called “local party” did not necessarily translate to good governance.
“We’ve seen how the GRS government, which claims to be a local coalition, failed to defend the people and is now mired in scandals that tarnish the state administration’s integrity,” he added.

Nearing the 17th state election with nomination day set for Nov 15, Bung had led Sabah Umno to part ways with GRS, while ensuring that there would be no clash with Harapan candidates.
Bung, who previously urged Sabahans to give him a chance to be the next chief minister, further claimed that slogans such as “Sabah for Sabahans” and “local party” have become shields to conceal weaknesses and greed for power.
“Sabah BN believes we don’t need 10 parties to fight for Sabah. What we need is one honest, stable, and people-focused direction.
“Enough of Sabah being the victim of political slogans. What the people want is not empty rhetoric but clean, courageous, and service-oriented leadership,” he stressed. - Mkini
