Johor Wanita Pkr Vice Chief Quits Party To Focus On Azmin Linked Ngos
Johor Wanita PKR vice-chief Nor Ashidah Ibrahim and some 50 supporters have quit the party and will be focusing their attention on two NGOs led by leaders linked to Azmin Ali
Nor Ashidah said she and the others would not be joining any parties, but will instead give their "full attention to Nation of Women (NOW) and Penggerak Komuniti Negara (PKN)"
NOW is led by suspended PKR women's chief Haniza Talha, while PKN is led by former PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin. Nor Ashidah and her supporters were photographed holding up signs with NOW's logo at the press conference
There is strong speculation that NOW, PKN, and youth NGO Pemuda Negara led by Dr Afif Bahardin are the precursors to the formation of a new party by Azmin, with NOW and Pemuda Negara to be the women and youth wings
In a statement read out today, Nor Ashidah said she had lost confidence in the PKR leadership
She said the suspension of Haniza, as well as the sacking of former Johor PKR women chief Rahamizon Abdul Ghani and former deputy chief Tan Poh Lai as being unacceptable
She also claimed that the party was now preoccupied with a witch-hunt against members aligned to Azmin and Zuraida (above)
“This has led to more fragmentation and the leadership’s failure to trust members who have chosen the party
“This clearly shows that the leadership is bent on destroying the strong unity that was built in the past,” Nor Ashidah was quoted as saying by Malay Mail
Meanwhile, Rahamizon was quoted by The Star as claiming that more than 300 Johor PKR members will also be quitting soon
Speculation has been rife that Azmin and his allies are planning to set up Parti Negara but for now, they are being housed under Bersatu
Azmin and 10 others had quit PKR in February to align themselves with the Perikatan Nasional government
Last week Dr Daroyah Alwi, who was Haniza's deputy in the PKR women's wing, also quit the party and declared herself a PN-friendly independent. - Mkini
