Immigration Dept Yet To Receive Request To Revoke Muhyiddin S Son In Law S Passport

Immigration Departmen director-general, Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, confirmed that no such application has been submitted to the department to date. - NSTP/EIZAIRI SHAMSUDINKUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has yet to receive an official request to revoke the international passport of Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, son-in-law of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Its director-general, Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, confirmed that no such application has been submitted to the department to date.
"As of now, I have not received any application," he said when contacted yesterday.
Zakaria clarified that any request to revoke an individual's passport must be submitted directly to the Immigration Department, and not through the Home Ministry.
Yesterday, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki said the commission had already submitted a request to revoke Muhammad Adlan's passport as part of ongoing efforts to locate him.
"We took action yesterday (the day before) and hope the Home Ministry agrees with our request to cancel his passport.
"He is believed to be in a country with which we do not have an extradition agreement, but we are trying to negotiate with that country to bring him back," Azam said at a press conference in Petaling Jaya.
When asked about Muhammad Adlan's current location, Azam said the former prime minister's son-in-law is believed to be in the Middle East but declined to name the specific country.
On Aug 7, 2023, MACC reported that it was tracking down Muhammad Adlan and a lawyer, Mansoor Saat, 70, to assist in investigations into alleged misappropriation involving a project related to the registration, recruitment, and biometric storage of foreign workers under a ministry.
Both were found to have left Malaysia on May 17 and May 21, 2023, respectively.
In October 2023, then Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, confirmed that red notice requests for both Muhammad Adlan and Mansoor had been submitted to Interpol. - NST
