Muhyiddin Slams Anwar For Failing To Apologise Over Ron95 Slander

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin took a swipe at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for not apologising over claims that he defended giving RON95 fuel subsidies to foreigners.
Speaking at Bersatu’s annual general assembly in Shah Alam today, Muhyiddin (above, left) said he has yet to receive any report from MCMC on the matter despite Anwar’s remarks in Parliament.
“That day, he slandered me - saying ‘Pagoh supported giving fuel subsidies (RON95) to foreigners’.
“He called for MCMC to investigate. Why am I being investigated? Investigate the liar,” said the Pagoh MP.
ADS“Until now, no report has been received. He (Anwar) has not apologised to me to this day.
“It’s okay, I am a forgiving person. But until today, nothing has come out of his mouth. Perhaps for people like him, the word ‘forgiveness’ does not exist in his life’s dictionary,” Muhyiddin said.
Petrol subsidies for foreigners?
During the Prime Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Aug 5, Anwar claimed that Muhyiddin had questioned the government’s decision not to provide petrol subsidies to foreigners.
Muhyiddin countered that he never made such a statement and accused Anwar of failing to verify the claim properly.
Anwar then instructed MCMC to investigate whether Muhyiddin had made the statement.
The internet regulator reportedly summoned the former prime minister on Aug 7 to provide a statement as a witness, not as a suspect.
Verifying details
On Aug 14, Anwar had said he was prepared to apologise to Muhyiddin over the allegation, but maintained he was waiting for MCMC’s findings to verify whether the information he referred to was false.
The prime minister also claimed he had three sources of information on the matter, one of which was later confirmed to be false.
Muhyiddin, however, once again brushed off Anwar’s stance, saying he viewed it as a personal test of patience.
“Perhaps Allah made Anwar Ibrahim the prime minister so that we could learn patience. May Allah raise our rank,” he added. - Mkini
