Firefly Jet Operations To Move From Subang To Klia

The low-cost carrier’s turboprop services, however, will remain at Subang to maintain regional connectivity.
Parent company Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) said the relocation was part of its long-term optimisation plan and would allow Firefly to better leverage the group’s shared services in engineering, ground handling, and catering.
“Subang Airport will continue to play an important role in Firefly’s network through its turboprop operations, which provide essential connectivity across key domestic and regional routes.
“This decision reinforces our commitment to strengthening KLIA Terminal 1 as the main aviation hub, while continuing to offer accessible air travel options across the country,” group managing director Izham Ismail said in a statement today.
Firefly will launch its jet services from KLIA with a flight to Tawau on Aug 19, followed by routes to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu on Aug 21, Singapore on Aug 22, Johor Bahru on Aug 23, Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu on Aug 30, and Sibu on Sept 3.
The airline will also increase the frequency of its KLIA–Penang flights from twice a week to six times weekly starting Aug 23. Plans are underway to reach a frequency of 10 times a week in November.
All routes will be served by Firefly’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with complimentary checked baggage allowance of 10kg, 7kg cabin luggage allowance, and in-flight refreshments.
To mark the transition, Firefly is offering all-in one-way promotional fares starting at RM58 for select destinations.
Affected passengers will be contacted directly, with options for alternative travel or full refunds in line with the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code. - FMT
