Speaker Relevant Ministers Will Take Over Pm Question Time Next Tuesday
PARLIAMENT | The Minister’s Question Time (MQT) session in the Dewan Rakyat next Tuesday, which is allocated for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to respond to questions from MPs, will instead be answered by the relevant ministers.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul said this is because the prime minister is scheduled to chair the 47th Asean Summit on that day.
“I would like to inform everyone of a few matters. Firstly, next week’s Minister’s Question Time session on Tuesday, Oct 28, will be answered by the honourable ministers.
“This is because the prime minister will be chairing the 47th Asean Summit on that date,” he said during the policy-level debate on the Supply Bill 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
The 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits are scheduled to be held from Oct 26 to 28, with the participation of top leaders from the 10 Asean member states and key dialogue partners, including the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and India.
MPs urged to plan journey
Johari also informed that throughout the summit, the police have identified times and routes that will be closed or diverted for security and traffic control purposes.
Hence, he reminded MPs to plan their travel to the Parliament building to avoid any inconvenience due to traffic restrictions implemented during the summit.
“If there are any routes to Parliament that are closed, MPs who are caught in the traffic may show their Parliament security pass to the traffic police officers on duty to gain access to the Parliament building.
“I expect traffic to be quite congested, so the honourable members should plan their journey accordingly,” he said.
