Covid 19 1 810 New Infections Cumulative Cases Breach 80k Mark


 



COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,810 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths. 
The Klang Valley region recorded the most cases with 53.2 percent followed by Sabah (29.4 percent) and Pahang (5.3 percent).
Cumulatively, the number of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 80,309. For context, the total number of Covid-19 cases in China currently stands at 86,688.

While the vast majority of new cases in the Klang Valley were from known clusters or origins, it should be noted that 160 of these infections, or 16.6 percent, were classified as "lain-lain saringan" (other screenings). 
This classification is an umbrella term for screenings on people with symptoms, pre-surgery screening, workplace screenings and pre-departure screenings, among others.
In Selangor, a new cluster known as Sungai Putus accounted for 369 new cases. This cluster involved mostly foreigners working at a factory in the Klang district, possibly located in Jalan Sungai Putus, which is sandwiched between Bandar Bukit Raja and Klang town. 
Of the six deaths reported, five were in Sabah. The cumulative Covid-19 death toll for Sabah has reached 233 or 57.96 percent of the national total (402).
Details of the victims - and Malaysians with comorbidity - are as follows:
Patient 42,285 - male, 62, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. 
Patient 50,0048 - male, 65, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Patient 52,948 - male, 81, passed away at the Tawau Hospital.
Patient 58,947 - female, 60, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. 
Patient 70,078 - female, 78, passed away at the Penang Hospital. 
Patient 76,355 - female, 63, dead on arrival at the Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan.

The Health Ministry today said there are 190 active clusters of which 48 reported new cases.
The most cases were from the aforementioned Sungai Putus cluster (369 cases), followed by the Rumah Merah (150) and D'Bajaru (133) clusters.
The Rumah Merah cluster involved a temporary detention centre in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The D'Bajaru cluster was discovered upon targeted community screening in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
The Health Ministry also classified five new clusters. The Sungai Putus cluster involved a factory in the Klang district, Selangor. There are 427 active cases of which nine involved locals and the rest foreigners.
The Erima cluster involved a workplace transmission in the Gombak district in Selangor. The index case was diagnosed on Dec 7 after reporting symptoms. Her colleagues were later subjected to testing and 29 in total were found positive.
The Tapak Bina Jalan Berangan cluster involved the Lembah Pantai, Titiwangsa and Kepong districts in Kuala Lumpur. This cluster originated from a construction site. Six cases have been attributed to this cluster so far.
The Langkasuka cluster involved the Kulai and Johor Bahru district and 14 cases so far. The index case was diagnosed on Dec 5 after reporting symptoms.
The Jalan College cluster involved the Seremban district in Negeri Sembilan and the Petaling district in Selangor. The index case was diagnosed on Dec 3 after reporting symptoms. So far 35 cases have been attributed to this cluster.

The Sungai Keluang cluster involved several districts across Penang. The index case was screened for Covid-19 before attempting to leave the country and diagnosed on Dec 5. The person's colleagues were screened and 16 cases have been attributed to this cluster so far. - Mkini
