Masidi Believes Sabahans Will Adapt To New Normal In Covid 19 Fight

The Sabah government believes the people will do what is necessary including adapting to the new normal to prevent the spread of Covid-19. - NSTP/ MOHD ADAM ARININKOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government believes the people will do what is necessary including adapting to the new normal to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this in response to photos of people thronging a shopping mall here that went viral yesterday.
"It is normal at this time of year for many people to shop for Christmas and other celebrations, as well as to prepare for the new school term next year.
"Based on observation, the people are still adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP) by wearing masks and willing to queue for a long time (to get into the mall).
"As for the retailers, they are taking necessary actions by having their patrons to scan the MySejahtera application or manually put down their details into the log books, checking temperature and ensuring physical distancing among others" he said during a virtual press conference.
To date, Sabah has recorded 30,768 cases with 218 deaths due to Covid-19.
The state still records three-digit daily cases including today with 248 cases and 126 or 50.81 per cent of them are associated with close contact cases in 14 districts.
Nonetheless, Masidi said the government had relaxed rulings for the social and economic sectors to stimulate the state economy.
"The government, however, urges everyone to follow the guidelines, regulations and SOP and not to take the Covid-19 pandemic lightly.
"As for the guidelines for hoteliers and tourism activities, Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment ministry has provided detailed SOP.
"For golfing, the operator has to ensure only one player is in the buggy throughout the game." - NST
