Cops Nab Teen Girl For Allegedly Slashing E Hailing Driver S Throat
The police have arrested a 16-year-old girl after she allegedly slashed the throat of an e-hailing driver.
Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai said the incident took place at 2.55am yesterday at Jalan Kovil Hilir, Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur after she had refused to pay an RM400 fare that she previously agreed on.
The 63-year-old driver had picked her up from Sagil, Tangkak, Johor to Kuala Lumpur using the MyCar app.
“After arriving at the destination, the suspect refused to pay (the fare) claiming she did not have enough money. The victim decided to send the suspect to the police station for further action.
“Out of fear, the suspect then reacted by slashing his throat with a penknife and ran away. The suspect’s penknife was left in the car,” Beh said in a statement issued yesterday.
He added that the driver drove to the Sentul police station for assistance and was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital via an ambulance for treatment.
Beh said that based on investigations, the suspect was arrested at 4.55pm yesterday in front of the Maybank Jinjang branch in Kuala Lumpur.
“The suspect has no prior criminal record. The police have also seized the suspect’s mobile phone,” he added.
She is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means. She faces a maximum of 10-year imprisonment, a fine or whipping, or both, if convicted. - Mkini
