No Plans To Oust Muhyiddin Bring Bersatu Into Govt Says Rafizi
Former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli dismissed claims of a plot to oust Muhyiddin Yassin as Bersatu president to allow the party to form the government.
However, he acknowledged that Prime Minister and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim rarely shares information on such moves.
“Not that I am aware of. PM (Anwar) as party president does not share things like political moves like this.
“Discussions on the party’s big political strategies and (things) involving me only happened towards the 2022 general election and during the formation of the unity government.
ADS“After that, any political steps in the prime minister’s own head were not shared with the deputy president,” the former economy minister told Malaysiakini.

Bersatu president Muhyiddin YassinYesterday, Muhyiddin’s former aide Marzuki Mohamad claimed that rivals are out to put the former premier to “rest” as a condition for Bersatu to form the federal government.
However, he questioned whether the offer was genuine.
Marzuki said the offer allegedly comes from a party within the government, which is believed to be Umno, whose president, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, withdrew support from Muhyiddin as prime minister in 2021.
Zahid, however, has made clear that he plans to continue aligning Umno with Anwar’s Pakatan Harapan in the next general election.
Marzuki made the allegations in a veiled response to Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal’s appearance on former law minister Zaid Ibrahim’s podcast yesterday.
During the podcast, Wan Fayhsal lamented that Muhyiddin unilaterally decided to reject joining the coalition government in the aftermath of the 15th general election.
Bersatu’s internal strife
Bersatu is also facing internal strife as Muhyiddin, during the party’s annual general assembly on Sept 6, spoke of a plot to remove him as president in favour of Hamzah Zainudin through statutory declarations (SDs) from about 120 division chiefs.
This was greeted with shouts of “Not true!” and “Turun Tan Sri!” (Step down, Muhyiddin!), countered by louder cries of “Hidup Tan Sri!” (Long live Muhyiddin!).

Bersatu had recently sacked its supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan and four party division chiefs. Wan Fayhsal has also been suspended from the party for one term.
According to a Bersatu disciplinary board statement, it found the leaders guilty of violating the party constitution and its Code of Ethics and Conduct.
While the statement did not detail the violations, it is believed that they were expelled in connection with the recent attempt to pressure Muhyiddin into handing over party leadership to Hamzah. - Mkini
