30 000 Transactions A Minute Under Budi95 Says Anwar
The prime minister says the servers for the RON95 programme have a larger capacity than those of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah initiative.

(Bernama pic)PUTRAJAYA: More than 30,000 transactions for subsidised RON95 can be made every minute under the BUDI95 programme, thanks to the use of servers with greater capacity, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said this was 10 times faster than the servers used for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme.
“SARA only processed 3,000 transactions a minute, while the BUDI95 servers can handle over 30,000,” Anwar said in addressing finance ministry staff at their monthly assembly here today.
He said BUDI95 would be rolled out in phases, starting with police and military personnel on Sept 27 – 300,000 recipients in total – followed by five million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah recipients on Sept 28, and the other 16 million Malaysians on Sept 30.
Anwar said Malaysia’s decision to implement BUDI95 was only possible because of the government’s improved financial management, reduced leakages and stronger governance in government agencies.
He said this was thanks to reforms, stricter tender processes, efforts to curb corruption and improved tax collection.
“We must begin by understanding that not every country is able to continue subsidy programmes aimed at reducing the people’s burden,” he said.
Acknowledging challenges with corruption and leakages at some ministries and agencies, Anwar nevertheless insisted that the perpetrators involved did not represent the majority of civil servants.
“It is not fair to generalise as if all civil servants are mediocre (or corrupt). Most are dedicated and have delivered results. Our growth and investments are the work of the entire government machinery.”
He added that the government’s subsidy rationalisation exercise, with cash aid targeted towards those who need it, was only possible because of the dedication of Treasury officials, the Inland Revenue Board, customs department and other enforcement bodies.
“We must recognise that this success comes from the sacrifices of civil servants across all levels, working with the private sector and professionals,” he said. - FMT
