Well Done Probing Albert Shamsul Where S 2 Others Named In Video
Pejuang spokesperson Rafique Rashid Ali applauded MACC for its speedy investigation into businessperson Albert Tei and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin, with the duo to be charged tomorrow.
However, in a statement today, he asked the anti-graft body about the other two names mentioned in an explosive video that circulated on social media last week.
The video, which lasted over six minutes, showed Tei talking to Sofia Rini Buyong, who was allegedly Shamsul’s proxy, who told the businessperson that Anwar gave the “order” for Sabah politicians to be secretly recorded.
In the same video, the woman said Shamsul had met with MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki at an undisclosed time to ask the latter to “settle” the case involving Tei.
Rafique today noted the MACC chief’s explanation about Sofia, and instead focused on whether the agency would grill Azam and Anwar.
“Azam has clearly stated that the woman (Sofia) will be made a prosecution witness… I believe the attorney-general and the deputy public prosecutor will also use her evidence to defend the charges against Shamsul and Tei.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim (left) and MACC chief Azam Baki“So the question now is what about the other two names stated in the video? Have those whose names are mentioned be called for questioning?
“The prosecution must be fair as nobody is above the law, as what Azam has so firmly and clearly said,” Rafique said.
Bribery charges
Azam told a press conference today that Tei will be charged in court with five counts of offering bribes, while Shamsul will be charged with five counts of receiving bribes.
They will face four charges each in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow and one charge each at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Friday.
They were arrested on Nov 28, when the MACC also nabbed Sofia to assist in the investigation.
However, today, Azam confirmed that Sofia would not be charged as she has been reclassified as a witness.
Tei has been on a warpath to take down politicians whom he allegedly gave money to for mineral exploration licences in Sabah, which he did not end up getting.
He claimed that he spent RM629,000 on Shamsul after being assured that the latter could aid in recouping monies channelled to politicians in Sabah.
Besides funding renovations, appliances, and furnishings for two properties, Tei alleged he spent thousands of ringgit on premium cigars and tailored suits for Shamsul, who also purportedly requested money from the businessperson while travelling abroad. - Mkini
