PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has come out swinging following the scathing criticism directed at the party by Kelantan Umno delegate Zawawi Othman yesterday, saying that Kelantan Umno should do its talking when it faces PAS in the next general election.
The Pasir Mas MP's challenge was made in response to Pasir Puteh Umno chief Zawawi calling three PAS leaders, namely president Abdul Hadi Awang, election director Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, “jahanam” (damned) individuals when debating at the Umno general assembly yesterday.
“This is just the head of the division (Zawawi) talking, we will only meet in the next election. We (PAS) also really want to fight later.
“He can try again to erase the record of losing 0-5 (five GEs) in Datuk's division (in Pasir Puteh)," he said in a sarcastic post on his Facebook in which he also claimed that Umno had spent a lot of money without getting a win in the constituency, which has been held by PAS since the 2008 election.
Zawawi yesterday said the three leaders were called so because they were considered "evil-mouthed".
According to Zawawi, at a time when Umno leaders never labelled PAS leaders with bad titles, the party went on to mock Umno with various names such as ducks with broken legs.
Fadhli said he was "amused" to read the report on Zawawi's statement.
“It's also funny when a leader who has no record of integrity problems (Hadi) is labelled as hell or does Zawawi want to insult his own leader who is more damned?" said Fadhli in an apparent jibe at Umno leaders Najib Abdul Razak and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, both of whom have faced numerous corruption charges, the former being a convicted felon. - Mkini
