Wanita Umno Delegates Urge Party To Close Ranks Ahead Of Ge15

Wanita Umno delegates have called for different factions in the party to close ranks and work together in deciding the timing for the next general election. 
Bagan Serai Wanita Umno chief Zarina Abdol Majid has likened the factional conflicts to pointing a weapon at the party’s own grave ahead of the general election. 
“There are some of us who are waiting for the dissolution of Parliament, but are we ready for a general election?” she said while participating in a debate at the wing’s annual general assembly today.
“A general election is unlike by-elections or state elections. So, let’s not be complacent with all the victories we gained in the recent elections. Let’s not repeat the old behaviour. 
“Our defeat in the 14th general election should be a lesson to us. Let us not be complacent and be hostile to each other. Let’s not have clans in the party as though we are pointing a weapon at our own graves,” she said. 
She called for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the party leadership to hold discussions on when to hold the next general election. 
“Have faith in the ability of the leadership, especially the prime minister to discuss and decide on matters which are important to the country and the people.
“Let’s not waste the sacrifice of our ancestors, let us close our ranks and continue to rise,” she said.

“On behalf of the voices of the people out there, I urge the top leadership or the top five Umno leaders, namely the president, deputy president and vice-president to discuss properly the most suitable time to hold the next general election.
“The people can’t wait to give a new two-third majority mandate to BN to form the new government,” said the Chuping assemblyperson. 
Wanita Umno holds its 2021 annual general assembly on the same day as Umno Youth and Puteri Umno. 
While the keynote addresses of the wings’ heads were broadcasted live, the debate of the delegates was aired only partially, hours after it took place.
Messages promoting snap polls as advocated by Umno leaders were also aired at the media centre. - Mkini
