Utm Cadet Death Witness Audio Given To Cops Autopsy Finds Injuries
The lawyer representing the family of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) cadet Syamsul Haris Shamsudin, who died on July 28, has submitted to the police a recording of a witness present at the scene of his death.
Lawyer Naran Singh told Malaysiakini that the audio recording details who was present at the scene and what transpired before Syamsul’s death.
The audio clip was on a USB flash drive, which Naran handed over to senior police officer Fazley Ab Rahman, along with a transcript of the recording and photos Syamsul's mother took of his body before the first post-mortem.
Naran also provided Fazley with documents objecting to the second post-mortem, which were prepared by the investigating officer, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail, and two doctors who carried out the first autopsy.
Naran said the documents were handed over outside Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where the second autopsy is being carried out.
"I've handed over these things to the police so they will do an in-depth investigation, providing justice to Syamsul," he said.
Suspicious traumatic injuries
Later, Naran said the second autopsy uncovered traumatic injuries deemed suspicious and requiring further investigation.
"CT scans were carried out before and after the procedure to allow for a comprehensive analysis, followed by a thorough examination of the body.

Lawyer Naran Singh"The post-mortem revealed suspicious traumatic injuries which may have caused the death. These findings clearly require further investigation.
"All I can say for now the injuries were found on the body. I can't disclose the exact location and nature of the injuries as it could compromise ongoing police investigations," The Star quoted Naran as telling a press conference outside Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
This was after the procedure finished at 4pm.
ADSNaran urged Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar to immediately conduct an inquest into Syamsul's death.
If the attorney-general chooses not to do so, then Syamsul's family will make another application in court to push for one, Naran added.
He further called on Khalid to act swiftly and firmly in the investigation.

Attorney-General Dusuki MokhtarBody exhumed
Syamsul's body was exhumed at Kampung Rinching Ulu Muslim cemetery in Semenyih yesterday morning.
This followed the Shah Alam High Court’s decision on Aug 26, where judicial commissioner Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet granted Syamsul’s mother’s application.
Syamsul’s mother, Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, filed her application on Aug 14, naming Khalid and Dusuki as respondents, after suspecting something was amiss following injury marks found on her son’s body.
In her application, she said she suspected there were criminal elements in Syamsul’s death.
On Aug 15, she expressed her belief that her son's death was caused by individuals in the Reserve Officer Training Unit at the Army Combat Training Centre. - Mkini
