Cops Question Kg Sungai Baru Activist Over Obstruction Claims
Police have summoned Kampung Sungai Baru activist Rafidah Ibrahim for questioning today over allegations that she obstructed a court bailiff during eviction attempts at the redevelopment site in Kuala Lumpur.
Rafidah said an investigating officer from the Criminal Investigation Department at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters called her in to record her statement in relation to the incident last month.
“On July 16, a bailiff was sent to Kampung Sungai Baru, where I was accused of obstructing court duties… it just took time (for me to be summoned), the incident happened in mid-July, and I was only called at the end of August.
“The investigation is under criminal investigation, and both I and (Village Residents’ Rights Committee chairperson) Zainab Alias were summoned,” the influencer told reporters outside the Dang Wangi district police station.
ADSRafidah added that Zainab could not attend due to health problems.
Villagers put foot down
On July 17, Rafidah and several villagers moved to block attempts to evict the remaining Kampung Sungai Baru residents.
They were among those who resisted the developer’s efforts to vacate homes earmarked for redevelopment in the area.

The protracted dispute stems from a group of residents who have refused to relocate, citing dissatisfaction with the compensation offered.
Rafidah further alleged that residents unwilling to move have faced intimidation.
“They will send the bailiff and lock the houses that are still occupied.
“Even if they send the bailiff, the residents will not move out; they will remain in their homes,” she said.
According to Rafidah, bailiffs are expected to return to the village on Sept 11. - Mkini
