Ho Chi Yang said four mud floods, two severe, had occurred in Cameron Highlands due to land clearing on a hilltop near Kampung Raja.
He said the minerals and geoscience department (JMG) had carried out an investigation on the cleared site a few months ago, but the full report on the risk assessment had yet to be made public.
“Kampung Raja residents are enduring sleepless nights due to the mud floods fearing a landslide like the one in Batang Kali may occur there.

“This proves that the land clearing is the sole reason that led to these mud floods,” the Tanah Rata assemblyman said in a statement.
He said the government and the natural resources, environment and climate change ministry should instruct the JMG and other departments to release all technical reports to the public.
Ho said the government should consider legal action against the landowners and revoke their permit to clear land.
He said the two major mud floods occurred in July and December. The other two were minor floods.
Ho said around 100 homes in the Kampung Baru and Kampung Raja areas in Tanah Rata were affected, 20 of them badly. - FMT
