Three Weeks After Kitingan Video Revealed Macc Summons Albert
Three weeks after businessperson Albert Tei released a video implicating Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) president Jeffrey Kitingan, the MACC has summoned him for questioning.
Malaysiakini learned that Tei and his lawyer, Mahajoth Singh, are scheduled to appear at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya tomorrow morning to record his statement.
Kitingan, who has denied receiving RM1.78 million in bribes from Tei, was questioned by the anti-graft agency two days after the video was made public on Sept 24.
Tei later released another recording, this time allegedly showing Kitingan’s aide in connection with the same scandal.
Screenshots of Tei’s WhatsApp conversations with Kitingan were also disclosed, showing the Star president repeatedly asking for money, including for a land purchase.

It also could not be confirmed whether MACC will probe Tei over other video recordings said to be linked to the mining licence bribery scandal.
On June 28, Malaysiakini reported that beyond Kitingan, the purported videos also featured Joachim, his predecessor Maximus Ongkili, as well as ex-Star deputy presidents Ellron Alfred Angin and Robert Tawik.
Like the earlier clips, these videos allegedly show discussions involving bribes in exchange for mineral exploration licences.
MACC has yet to comment publicly on the additional videos.

Tei and two assemblypersons have since been charged, while the fate of the remaining figures remains uncertain, prompting critics to allege a possible cover-up.
Tei, who had submitted 300 pages of evidence, has also accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, whose Pakatan Harapan coalition is allied with GRS, of using his videos to exert political pressure on the Sabah leaders. - Mkini
