Albert S Lawyer Writes To Igp After 2 Weeks Of Silence On Hajiji Report
After more than two weeks of silence, businessperson Albert Tei’s lawyer has written to Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail seeking updates on the police report lodged by his client against caretaker chief minister Hajiji Noor in Kota Kinabalu on Sept 22.
Mahajoth Singh pointed out that his client has yet to receive or be informed of the report’s status.
“We have been instructed to state that the (caretaker) chief minister’s act of disclosing the confidential information is a very serious matter, and that an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation must be carried out.
“This is especially pressing as the incident raises grave concerns about the independence and transparency of investigations conducted by the MACC,” he added.
ADSIn view of the above, Mahajoth urged the police chief to provide a detailed update on the investigation’s status, including whether a comprehensive and transparent inquiry is underway, at the earliest possible opportunity.
In his report, Tei (above) accused Hajiji of breaching the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA) and Section 203A of the Penal Code by leaking classified information.

Sabah caretaker chief minister Hajiji NoorHe cited Hajiji’s speech on Dec 14 last year - delivered shortly after Tei released a series of videos implicating Sabah assemblypersons in a mining scandal - in which the chief minister revealed knowledge of the MACC’s questioning of Tei.
A TikTok clip showed Hajiji saying he was “informed” Tei “did not admit to doing it” when questioned by MACC.
“Hajiji openly confirmed and admitted that he had knowledge of the statement I had given to the MACC regarding its investigation into corruption involving mining exploration licences, which implicated him as well as eight assemblypersons and a state legislative assembly speaker from the ruling coalition,” Tei said in his report.
What about the ‘rats’?

MACC chief Azam BakiOn Sunday, Tei also pressed MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki for answers regarding the leak.
The businessperson urged Azam to carry out a clean-up to eradicate the “rats” within the agency, claiming it would not be difficult to identify them.
“Azam must promptly announce the results of the disciplinary investigation concerning the ‘rats’ as well as the preventive measures to curb the breeding of ‘rats’ in MACC,” he added. - Mkini
