Stop This Just Follow Agong S Decree Nazri Tells Zahid
Nazri Aziz says Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is going against the King by using SDs, instead of letting the majority be decided in Parliament.PETALING JAYA: Nazri Aziz has questioned if Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was now going against the Yang diPertuan Agong by insisting that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin did not have the majority support in Parliament.
The Padang Rengas MP said Muhyiddin clearly stated that he had requested for the King to allow the majority to be determined via a confidence vote in the Dewan Rakyat in September.
“That is clear and means that the King has decreed to take the matter to Parliament.
“So, is Zahid trying to go against the King by not following the decision,” Nazri asked.
He said the King has spoken and “Zahid should just stop this”.
Earlier today, Zahid insisted Muhyiddin was wrong in claiming that he still has the majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
In a statement, he said he had presented to the King more statutory declarations (SDs) from Umno MPs retracting their support to the government, although he didn’t state the number.
Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk MP, said he had on July 30 presented eight statutory declarations to the King, as mentioned by Muhyiddin in his televised address this afternoon.
Speaking to FMT, Umno Supreme Council member Razlan Rafii supported Zahid’s actions, saying it was clear that Muhyiddin had lost his claim to the premiership.
Stating that the numbers speak for itself, he said 107 MPs had demanded Muhyiddin to quit during the protest march at Dataran Merdeka on Monday.
Razlan said even without counting the additional SDs sent by Zahid to the King, Muhyiddin had already lost majority support in Parliament.
“This is because the 107 opposition MPs and the earlier eight SDs from Umno MPs bring the total to 115 MPs who want Muhyiddin to resign.
“With the additional SDs, Muhyiddin is even weaker,” he added.
There are presently 220 MPs, excluding two vacant seats in Gerik and Batu Sapi.
Razlan called for Muhyiddin to do what former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad did when Bersatu had walked out of Pakatan Harapan in February 2020.
“The prime minister had lost majority and as a statesman, Mahathir resigned.
“After that, Mahathir wanted to become PM again but failed to get support,” he said.
Meanwhile, Subang MP Wong Chen said Zahid’s latest statement shows “it is obvious that the majority claimed by Muhyiddin this morning has an even lesser footing now.”
He asked Muhyiddin to be transparent with the numbers claimed.
“Parliament must convene as soon as possible so that we can end this political uncertainty,” he added. - FMT
