Spm Exam Students Moved To Hostels To Sit For Bm Oral Tests

PETALING JAYA: With Bahasa Melayu oral tests in the SPM examination beginning tomorrow, secondary school pupils in flooded areas have been moved to hostels to ensure they are able to sit for their tests.
A total of 5,377 SPM candidates have been identified as affected by the floods in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah.
In Raub, Pahang, 35 examination candidates were placed at hostels, out of a total of 20,404 SPM candidates in Pahang.
In Alor Setar, Kedah, several SPM candidates affected by the floods were relieved at being relocated to temporary hostels in preparation for their exams.
Zairil Baharnordin, 17, of SMK Seri Gunong, said his home in Alor Gonchar was submerged in chest-high floodwaters last Thursday and his family had to move to a relief centre.
“All my books got wet in the floodwaters, and I had to borrow books and notes from my friends to revise. Although it’s uncomfortable, I have no choice but to study here at the relief centre. I am also anxious about the Malay language oral test on Tuesday, but I will do my best. Today, my teacher came to pick me and three other friends to stay at the SMK Alor Janggus hostel and take the exam there,” he said.
His schoolmate, Nur Hasmira Najwa Hasan, 17, said it was difficult to study in the relief centre but was glad when told she would be transferred to a school hostel.
Another student, Nur Intan Aliesya Zamri, 17, said the floods did not stop her from focusing on her exam, as she had made prior preparations.
Education minister Fadhlina Sidek has announced that the 2024 SPM Malay language oral test would proceed as usual from Monday to Thursday.
In Kuala Krai, Kelantan, 95 students from SMK Keroh were ferried by boats across the Kuala Nal River today.
District civil defence officer Abd Fatah Abd Aziz said all Form 1 to Form 3 students residing at the school hostel will be allowed to return home to make way for the SPM students. - FMT
